OS X UI hangs while watching upnp stream

This use case frequently leads to the UI hanging for me.

Open VLC. Click "Universal Plug N Play". Wait for my servers to appear and for disclosure triangles to appear. Select a video and double-click it. Watch the video. Pause and unpause it a few times (in a "human goes to make a cup of tea or answer the door" way).

The symptoms are that the UI no longer works and seems dead to OS X. The cursor beach balls, and right-clicking in the dock icon gives me "Force Quit" rather than "Quit" as an option.

The video continues to play, but no controls respond.

This has happened to me twice in the last hour of watching programs streaming from my ReadyNAS (over wifi).

I've been trying to repro this on a 2.0.7 nightly and so far having no success.

Very likely related to #7093 (closed).

Very likely, but note this is a hang and not a crash. I specifically left it hung for some time without it actually crashing.

Also worth mentioning that I have used the Twonky server, but I think I'd dumped it by the time I found this defect.

Again let me stress I saw a HANG, not a CRASH. The other defects which you think this report duplicates refer to CRASHES.

Maybe you're happy to guess that the hang had the same cause as the crash. I personally wouldn't be.

This is the same issue, aka the infinite recursion that can either hang or crash.

All of them are related, but we cannot keep 12 bugs open on the same issue.

Fair enough - I just wanted to send it round the loop one more time so you were sure. Thanks for the explanation. Completely agree re 12 defect reports open on one fix.
