MPEG4 clips not playing in VLC player 2.0.1, while they were playing in 1.x.x

mpeg4 files that used to play fine in VLC v 1.x.x only play audio with VLC v 2.0.1.

All of those have issues?

H264 small 1mbps.mpg works for me with 2.0.1 on Linux.

No,

The issue reported only applies to the files on FTP that start with "MPEG4...". Those used to play fine, but will now only play audio; no video anymore.

The other files in the FTP-folder (MPEG2 as well as H.264) played ok and still play ok for both Audio and Video.

OS tried: Win XP SP2, Win7 64bit

In logfiles now this message is repeated continuously while playing the MPEG4 file:

avcodec warning: cannot decode one frame (15711 bytes)

[mpeg4 @ 0x7f9580cbac20] looks like this file was encoded with (divx4/(old)xvid/opendivx) -> forcing low_delay flag [mpeg4 @ 0x7f9580cbac20] Width/height/bit depth/chroma idc changing with threads is not implemented. Update your FFmpeg version to the newest one from Git. If the problem still occurs, it means that your file has a feature which has not been implemented.

On my side too. Ehhhh... I guess I have to dig into details for the explanation of this solution? ;-) (Is there any harm in making Threads=1 factory default for a next release, if you don't mind me asking...?

I've upgraded to 2.0.4 and I still have to manually set this option for rtsp streams to work:

:ffmpeg-threads=1

I am facing this same problem. Either of the following options work:

--ffmpeg-threads=1

or

--ffmpeg-hw

This is fine for those who use vlc application. I am using VLC browser plugin and I am unable to set these options there. I tried:

var options = ["--ffmpeg-hw"];   // also tried --ffmpeg-thread=1
vlc.playlist.add(url, name, options);

But this doesn't have any effect on the errors.
