Ubuntu VLC4 AMD blurry HW Acceleration h.264

We use AMD Ryzen Embedded R1505G with Radeon Vega Gfx and VLC 4.0.0~rc1~~git20230410+r96251+323~ubuntu22.04.1 on 5.15.0-67-generic. The latest beta is also affected.

As per #26772 (closed) VA-API is no longer available, we use VDPAU. If we enable the HW acceleration we got very blurry Video. Very similar problem and looking exactly like here like here: #28219 (closed)

As System we use Ubuntu22 LTS. We could determine that with the latest stable VLC3 (3.0.16) wont got that problem! Unfortunately the stable version got different bugs that affect us why we use the beta. Further we discovered that this only happens while we playing h.264 videos! On h.265 encoded videos we cant reproduce this anymore.

We can provide any further information you want. Got hundreds of systems with this Setup and problem here.

VDPAU drivers on AMD never worked properly, AFAIK. There is nothing that VLC can do about that.

@Courmisch And your suggestion then is what? Use Nvidia GPUs? Or is there anything else we could do?

I don't know what you expect here.

Hints how we can AMD GPUs and VLC to an working HW acceleration solution.

Don't mix incompatible versions of VLC and FFmpeg.

Sadly, AFAIK, short of trying proprietary drivers and reporting the issue to your driver provider (I assume mesa amdgpu) there's not much that can be done.
