VLC Crashes when rewinding (under certain circumstances)

I am using Version 3.0.11 Vetinari (Intel 64bit) to listen to audio files in mp3 and wav format, for transcribing, so I am starting, stopping and rewinding a lot.

The program often freezes during various playhead change conditions. For example when dragging the playhead, clicking the rewind button or using the key commands to rewind from Stop mode, the program freezes on my system (MacOS 10.15.2) and I need to force quit.

It seems to only happen when you I change the playhead position from Stop mode, it has so far never happened during playback.

I have same issue with version 3.0.11 on MacOS 10.15.4. Audio stops after pausing or rewinding and I have to force quit. Didn't happen on 3.0.10.

I've just run into this too. Also 3.0.11 specific, also on MacOS 10.15.4.

I was able to reproduce the same issue on two different video files using the following procedure:

• Open the VLC application
• Command+O to open the "Open File" dialog
• Select a video and press "Open". It starts playing.
• Pause the video almost immediately
• Press Left to rewind to the very beginning while still paused. (This is a technique I find useful to be ready to start from the beginning on a single keystroke, so as to have Covid-19 distributed video watching with friends in other houses – we all hit Play together.)
• Press Space to begin playing.

In 3.0.10, the video would play correctly, from the very beginning, with audio. But after updating to 3.0.11 two days ago, the video now plays without audio when restarted after the pause+rewind. Furthermore, if I then try to fast-forward or rewind, video play freezes. And if I Command+Q to quit VLC, it doesn't quit – the window stays around and the process is still visible in "ps".
