Launching VLC at the end of the installer opens "open or save" dialog

At the end of the installer, with the "launch VLC" box ticked, instead of simply starting VLC, a standard system dialog asking me if I want to open or save vlc.exe pops up. This is on Windows XP.

Win32 installer: do not try to elevate on XP
