VLC 2.1 fails to transcode mkv to livehttp for most test samples.
I have a set of mkv samples which I use to test transcoding to livehttp. These include the official mkv samples, and my own collection.
With 2.0.7, 16 of the samples transcode well. With 2.1.0, only 9 convert properly (6 if mp3 is used for the output).
Please see the attached table to see the results for each sample on 2.0.7 and 2.1.0
This seems to be related to the output audio; if the output audio is disabled, then almost all the samples convert correctly.
the command I am using to convert the samples is:
"/Users/rob/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/VLC_Streamer_Helper-egfolbznwnratybndkhnieudibny/Build/Products/Debug/VLCStreamer.app/Contents/Resources/VLC/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC" --ignore-config -I dummy "/Users/rob/Dropbox/MovieSamples/MKV Sample Collection/A_AVC.TrueHD.DDP.2xDD.mkv" vlc://quit --sout='#transcode{vcodec=h264,acodec=aac,channels=2,venc=x264{profile=baseline,level=2.2,keyint=90,bframes=0,ref=1,nocabac},width=640,vb=600,ab=40,audio-sync}:std{access=livehttp{seglen=10,index="/Users/rob/Library/Application Support/VLCStreamer/Streams/A_AVC.TrueHD.DDP.2xDD/stream.m3u8",index-url=stream-###.ts},mux=ts{use-key-frames},dst="/Users/rob/Library/Application Support/VLCStreamer/Streams/A_AVC.TrueHD.DDP.2xDD/stream-###.ts"}' --sout-avcodec-strict=-2 -vvv
the samples I am using are available at: http://streams.videolan.org/issues/8385/HS_MKV_Samples.zip (samples A to O) and at http://www.matroska.org/downloads/test_w1.html (sample 1-8)
this ticket is an follows on from https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/8539
these tests are now on the latest build (20 Jul 2013), and hopefully this is clearer to understand.
