Windows 2000 compatibility

VLC 2.0.4 does start under Windows 2000 : entry point "freeaddrinfo" not found in "W32_32.dll". Same problem occurs with version "vlc-2.1.0-git-20121210-0004-win32.exe". My Windows 2000 system is fully up to date. I know that Windows XP SP2 is annouced as the minimal Windows version on the download page but Windows 2000 is marked in green without any specific remark in "http://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_Features_OS". So either this is a program problem or this a documentation problem.
