wasapi: volume control not working

OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 VLC Version: 2.1 (32 bit, Daily Build) VLC download URL: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/vlc-2.1.0-20121108-0003/

When I press the CTRL + up arrow key or CTRL + down arrow key to adjust the volume, nothing happened. The volume value on the volume slider in VLC did not being changed. And the audio volume stay the same.

When I use the volume slider to adjust the volume, the volume stay the same, even though the volume value on the volume slider in VLC being changed.

According to the "Messages" window, an error "wasapi error: cannot initialize COM (error 0x80010106)" occurred when I try to adjust the volume.

Qt4 can probably not be convinced to not use the STA. Then using IGlobalInterfaceTable seems to be the only reasonable solution.

This is very far from the top of my priorities list.
