Wrong encoding (1200 instead of 1252) in VLC binary
Hi,
when using a specific deployment system to install VLC, we detected a problem with the detection of the product and file versions of the binary (none was detected by the tool). According to the developers of the deployment system (OPSI, http://www.opsi.org) this is a problem with a wrong encoding listed in a table in the binary:
--- Original citation (German) ---
das Problem liegt in einer Fehlerhaften Tabelle der vlc.exe
Dort wird behauptet das encoding sei 1200.
Unter 1200 gibt es keine Infos.
Infos finden sich unter der codepage 1252.
--- Translation ---
The problem lies in a wrong table in vlc.exe.
There it says that the encoding is 1200.
There are no informations under 1200.
The informations are on the codepage 1252.
I confirmed this behaviour with the latest nightly release vlc-2.0.4-20121008-0203 on Windows XP Professional 32bit.
You will guess from my phrasing, that I am not a software developer and don't know very much about the structure of Windows binaries. But I guess these informations should enable you to find and solve the problem.
Cheers
