VLC 2.0 does not play DVB channels file

I used VLC 1.0 and 1.1 for a while to watch TV using an USB ISDB-T tuner (which works just like a DVB one). After upgrading to 2.0 (and later 2.0.1 and 2.1.0~~git20120324+r1286-0r74precise1), it stopped working.

When running it from the command line, it just says "[0x1c59e38] main playlist: stopping playback" and it won't repond to any input (not even trying to open a new file). Also, closing the window will leave the indicator running until it is killed with SIGKILL (SIGTERM won't do).

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a DVB channels file, like the one attached in this ticket.

Expected:

Watching TV channels.

Observed:

Freeze.
