UPNP Service Discovery Slow

Enabling UPNP on VLC 1.1.12 OS X produces a dropdown in the playlist with the media server name.

The media server element does not become expandable for up to 5 minutes after the feature is enabled. The media server is Twonky 5.1.9. I have tens of thousands of media files on the server.

Once the element becomes expandable, the entire tree is browseable. I'm thinking this is likely because the UPNP service discovery feature traverses the entire tree rather than economically requesting subdirectories as they're requested per most UPNP renderer implementations.
