Opening a file from the file manager or command line does not add it to Recent Media

When I open a file by double clicking in a file manager (Thunar) or by specifying it on the commandline ("vlc somemovie.avi") it does not get added to the "Recent Media" item in the menu. When I open a file using the "Open File..." menu item it does work however.

is anyone willing to finally implement a fix into VLC master? shouldn't be to complicated, I think.

I believe a side effect of this is that the 2.2 feature "restart where you left off" doesn't work for files opened this way, which arguably is a bug in that context.

I don't know if you are willing to take some advice, but the polite way to say that something works for you is to mark something as "cannot reproduce" with the comment "I tested this on version X and it works here, can you check if your problem still occurs?"

No, the correct way to says some "works for you" is to close it as "worksforme". That's exactly why it was created.

Since I cannot reproduce, and I cannot guess when it was broken, I can't do anything more.
