.smi subtitle files do not work
I am in charge of our security cameras at work. The software is able to save out video in .avi (compessed with Xvid) files. When saving a video, it also creates an .smi subtitle file with the time stamp information stored in it -- so that the time stamp will display when the video is played. This is important as the time incidents occur can be significant.
The above works fine when the video is played with Windows Media Player. The time stamp appears correctly on the video.
However, this does NOT work with VLC. No time information is displayed. I have done a search of the forum for .smi, but the only things that I found are some references to Asian languages that involve code-page changes. While I don't think that is the problem (time is displayed in standard American/European digits -- ie "1", "2", "3", etc.), I tried changing to every code-page listed in the subtitle preferences with no luck.
