The A-B repeat button in the GUI is great, but there is no hotkey associated with it, nor is there any way to set up this association in the preferences. It would be awesome for us rodent-phobes if this could be fixed. Thanks!

It's associated with cmd+shift+L on my Mac running 2.1.4 Rincewind. Not sure if it were by default or whether I set it. Either case, since the ticket says "cannot associate", it should not include Mac platform.

@Trssnd I think the point is a hotkey that can be assigned globally, in the "Hotkeys" panel of the preferences. This option doesn't seem to be there on Mac either?
There shouldn't be a huge amount of work involved right?... It's just adding another functionality to the list of customizable global hotkeys. How hard can it be? Maybe I can also look at the source code and give it a crack. I use VLC to read after recordings to learn new languages while taking notes in another software, so this functionality would be a huge help.
I'm now running 3.0.4 Vetinari on my Mac. Took a deeper look and you're right. That option isn't there in Preferences -> Hotkeys and it's just a default setting.
However I'm able to set a system level shortcut of my choice in System Preferences.app at Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> App Shortcuts by clicking the + symbol and choosing VLC.app as the Application and A→B Loop as the Menu Title. So there's still no problem on the Mac as far as I can see.
Right. Indeed it's easier to map systemwide shortcuts on Mac but this can still be a problem for Linux and Windows users (I haven't used a Mac for a while). Also it might be better to offer it as a built-in instead of having to resort to external tools.
