Apple Remote does not work anymore ith VLC 1.1.2

I upgraded to VLC 1.1.2 and noticed that the apple remote does no longer works with VLC.

The removal of all the VLC preferences did not modify the result. Using the apple remote results in controlling Apple Front Row instead of VLC.

I verified in the setting that the "Control playback with the Apple Remote" is checked.

OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 VLC: 1.1.2
