When the "Wall" is enabled in "Video Effect", closing any sub-window will cause the VLC interface to lose control.
- OS: Ubuntu 22.04 (x86)
- Kernel: 5.15.0-53-generic
- VLC: 3.0.18 (From snap, current latest)
VLC has some rare settings in Video Effect. When "Wall" is enabled, if you close any of the pop-up sub-windows, this will cause the video of other sub-windows to freeze, and the interface of the VLC main window will also lose control.
A runaway VLC will not shut down properly. Whether by closing the main window, using the resident icon in the tray, or even using the command killall vlc
, VLC cannot be closed normally.
So far the only way I've found to properly shut down a runaway VLC is through the following command:
kill -9 $(pgrep vlc)
