Control panel overlay doesn't appear in fullscreen mode for 3.x, at least for me.
Control panel overlay doesn't appear in fullscreen mode for 3.x, at least for me.
This is how I have things setup in 2.2.6, the Interface setting are set to this:
checked "Show controls in full screen mode" not checked "Integrate video in interface" not checked "Start in minimal view mode"
When a video is playing in a window, I double click on it for full screen, move my mouse, the control panel shows. After a a second, the control panel disappears if your mouse is not on the control panel. Then after another second, the mouse disappears.
This is how I expect things to work with these settings.
With 3.0.x, I have not been able to get this functionality to work. With the exact same settings, there is no mouse on the screen and no control panel appearing. I have tried the following.
- I thought it was the "post=@Point" value in the FullScreen section of vlc-qt-interface.ini so I changed the value within the dimensions of my monitor's settings but that didn't make the control panel appear.
- I reset my preferences. That didn't work. In fact, I deleted everything in the folder where "vlc-qt-interface.ini" is stored for my user with no success.
After playing with the interface and options some, I found there were two ways to make the control panel show.

When the video is playing, if I do an ALT-TAB to bring the player to the foreground and then move my mouse on the video, the control panel appears. I never had to bring my application to the foreground in 2.2.6 to make the control panel appear with mouse movements before. I just wish I didn't have to bring the app to the foreground. After bringing it to the foreground, I have to bring it back to the background all the time.

Another approach to get the control panel to appear without having to do an ALT-TAB from #1 (closed) above consisted of some painful steps. I turn off the "Integrate video in interface", press F11, play the video, and then right-click Video->FullScreen. Now when I move my mouse, the control panel appears like it should without the main app showing up in the foreground. However, going back and forth on these options is painful for me, so I don't like this approach.
So, why is it not possible to show the control panel in number 1 above with the application in the background like version 2.2.6 was able to? Is there an option I'm missing or is the ability no longer available?
