DVD playback unstability and load times...
OS : Windows 10 Pro x64 VLC Version : 3.0.4 and latest at the time of writing 4.0.0-dev Hardware : Asus P9X79, Intel Core i7 3.7 Ghz 4 cores 8 threads (socket LGA 2011), GTX 650 Ti DirectCU II 2GB VRAM, 24 Gb RAM, Asus bluray drive (capable of reading bluray, read/write dvds and cds)
Log : Takes several minutes before printing anything... https://pastebin.com/Rigy4wYa Note that with 4.0.0-dev DVD is UNPLAYABLE lags like hell, spaming console with : "main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing XXX ms)"
Steps to reproduce :
- Allow Windows 10 to automatically start VLC when a DVD is inserted or use Open Disc feature of VLC.
- Insert a comercial DVD into the drive.
- Wait for the VLC app to open, enjoy the several minutes of waiting before any image or any log.
In order to accelerate load time to an acceptable level : Run DVD from Open Folder > This PC > BD-RE Drive > VIDEO_TS.
If running from Open Disc, a crash occurs when returning to dvd menu (the application freezes and needs to be killed by force (CTRL+ALT+DEL > Task Manager)). Also if you close the VLC window while it's loading from Open Disc or windows auto dvd load, VLC will leave unresponsive ghost processes that will have to be killed by force (CTRL+ALT+DEL > Task Manager).
