VLC crashes when converting .m3u8 file to .mp4
OS Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, current with all updates, Intel Core i7-7820X CPU @3.60 GHz, RAM: 128 GB
I've tried converting a .m3u8 file to a .mp4 file, but VLC will crash about halfway through converting the video. Sometimes it closes without warning, sometimes Windows will notify me that it's stopped working, and other times I get a runtime error. Here's the Runtime Error message: "Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\ Video LAN\VLC\vlc.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an ususual way."
Other times, the video will be converting and the progress bar just stops, but VLC will still be running.
Most of the videos that it makes are unreadable. However, there have been two instances where VLC produced a watchable video. Both of these instances the conversion process stopped halfway through, but VLC didn't crash.
Here are the steps I take: Open VLC--> Media Tab--> Convert/Save--> File Tab--> Add button--> Select .m3u8 file--> Convert/Save button--> Browse for file desination--> Click Start button
From there, VLC will go through the video until it reaches around the halfway mark and will either crash or end the conversion early.
I did some research on your forums and found a similar bug in report #11985 (closed). That report said the bug was fixed, but I've still experienced it.
