Converting large playlist to MP4 causes app crash

OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, SP1, current with all updates CPU Intel Core i7 920 2.67GHz RAM 12GB

Trying to convert 2540 *.ts files, all 9 secs long, in an *.m3u8 playlist file into one *.mp4 file and I get an app crash message from MS Visual C++ Runtime Library: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."
