Certain adpcm audios don't work

As told in http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=43218&p=135543&hilit=adpcm+virtualdub#p135543 and http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=48832 (and some other threads)

There are camera produced AVI files with adpcm audio that don't work with stable or nightly builds (tested 0.8.6i and 0.9.0 10th-aug-2008 Win32).

VLC identifies the audio correctly but only shows Audio -> Audio Track and doesn't play out the audio. Windows Media Player and Virtualdub play the audio without issues.
