"Date" cannot show characters which are not numbers
Version | vlc-3.0.0-20170515-0453-git |
---|---|
Where in the GUI | Tools → Media Information → Date |
The field "Date" cannot show characters which are not numbers, and numbers are limited to 4 (to show only the year I assume). No character restrictions should be applied because for example:
= File type = | = Official documentation = | = Template? = | = Quoted if template asked = |
---|---|---|---|
mkv | https://www.matroska.org/technical/specs/tagging/index.html | YES | The fields with dates should have the following format: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.MSS |
webm | http://wiki.webmproject.org/webm-metadata/global-metadata | YES | See "mkv" file type. |
mov | https://developer.apple.com/standards/qtff-2001.pdf | YES | QuickTime movies store date and time information in Macintosh date format: a 32-bit value indicating the number of seconds that have passed since midnight January 1, 1904. |
flac/ogg | https://xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html | NO |
I suggest, if the tag is:
- a string, read all characters;
- a number, apply a conversion (Apple, timestamp, and maybe others I do not know) depending of the file type/container, to show a human-readable date.
If lack of time, please let the possibility to show all characters at least. It is the best choice to be precise.
→ I have no sample for file type "mov" to check the behaviour of VLC.
