Youtube javascript fails on gzip-compressed pages

On all the Youtube videos I have tried thus far, VLC has returned an error. For https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Gv0H-vPoDc(Word Crimes), it returns the following:

Probably already fixed by feb851a0 Works for me now. If anything you can try again with an updated version of the lua script.

Nope. It does not work with HEAD.

The log points to a javascript parsing issue. The javascript linked in the log looks broken with the old youtube.lua version but compatible with the new version. The URL works for me now with 2.2.4 + youtube.lua from HEAD, I can't reproduce at the moment. I'm perplexed and sorry. Can you confirm it's broken now? Can you share logs?

Other streams from the same website play nicely.

That's very curious, I can't see what's going on. Lua version? Please try again with the extra debug in newest HEAD.

This is with lua 5.1.4.

When trying to play a youtube video protected by a signature, the youtube lua script tries to download javascript with the vlc.stream() binding. Then when calling stream:readline(), binary is returned instead of javascript.

I believe this would be related to the new HTTP access module. It seems that passing "Range: bytes=0-" in the request makes the server respond with "Content-Encoding: gzip". I hypothetize that this gzip binary is what's returned by stream:readline(), and it's my understanding that the stream/access layer should make sure to return the decoded content instead.

The old HTTP access also passed "Range: bytes=0-" (and still does). That's the only reliable way to detect that the stream is seekable upfront.
