VLC-3.0-from-git on a virtual console makes the local screen become stuck after switching to a different VC
I'm on mageia v6 x86-64 and built VLC from git source using:
«
#!/bin/bash
p="$HOME/apps/vlc-3.0"
export LUAC="/usr/bin/luac5.2"
./configure --prefix="p" --with-kde-solid="
p/share/apps/solid" \ --enable-debug --disable-schroedinger
»
(schroedinger would not build due to http://www.shlomifish.org/Files/files/text/vlc.make-output.txt ) with a patch adding «#include <gst/gstobject.h>» to «modules/codec/gstreamer/gstvlcpictureplaneallocator.c» because I'm using lib64gstreamer1.0-devel-1.7.90-1.mga6 .
Anyway, running vlc on a virtual console (getty2) and playing a video (I tried «youtube-dl -f 43 -l https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt0g4dWxEBo» but I can try other videos.) plays the video but makes the screen and keyboard unusable if I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 and Ctrl+Alt+F2. I was able to overcome it by sshing into the machine and running "service sddm start" as root.
My machine's specs are:
