Menu and Chapter buttons may disappear in VLC 2.2.1
I am finding this problem specifically with VLC 2.2.1 running on Windows 7 64-bit.
DVDs created with Toshiba set-top DVD recorders have an initial menu. When such DVDs are read via VLC, the initial menu is properly displayed. A menu item is clicked. But as the title begins playing, the 3-button set of previous chapter / menu / next chapter disappears. (Fortunately, one can still get back to the menu via Playback->Title->Menu. )
I have both VLC 2.2.1 and VLC 1.1.5 (32-bit) installed. I do not see this problem with VLC 1.1.5 using the same DVD.
Note that this does not occur with all DVDs produced by the Toshiba. The behavior appears consistent for the same disc, but many other discs created by the Toshiba do not have this problem on VLC 2.2.1.
I consider this minor because reverting back to the main menu can be accomplished by Playback->Title->Menu. I have not looked for alternatives for prev/next chapters since I rarely use that feature.
I have attached 4 images, created via Alt-PrtSc and saved in MS Paint. vlc_pic01.jpg is from VLC 2.2.1 showing the main menu, with the 3 pertinent buttons visible. vlc_pic02.jpg is after the first menu item is clicked. The buttons have disappeared. vlc_pic03.jpg is using VLC 1.1.5 on the same disc, showing the initial menu. vlc_pic04.jpg is after the first menu item is selected, and the set of 3 buttons is still visible.
