extremely high cpu usage on Windows Vista
VLC on Vista uses way too much CPU. For comparison: AMD3500, GeForce 7600 GS with 158.24 driver using samples:
mpeg2_5mb_720x576.mpg
alanwake_720p30_51_8mbps.wmv
alanwake_720p60_51_15mbps.wmv
TheGreatestGame_Stan_AVC.mp4
CPU usage on XP: 2%, 10%, 70%, 1% CPU usage on Vista: 50%, 70%, 100%, 100%
Note: wmv decoding usage is relatively high because ffmpeg decoding is used, dmo uses about half of that
Problem in Vista exists in 0.8.6a, 0.8.6b and 0.8.6c (tagged). Run as Administrator, using a XP compatibility mode or turning of Aero (classic desktop) have no effect.
By default on Vista the video seems to use a deinterlace mode (looks like blend, since I see a few artefacts common to this mode), on XP this is disabled. Chroma issues? Forcing to disabled has no effect. Somehow deinterlacing always seems on.
In a few occasions I also noticed continous 100% cpu usage just as long as the open file dialog was open.
