new version loses tracking

Just downloaded new VLC version tonight and find the new player does not keep track of where it is in the video file. Constantly see a little yellow line appear along the tracking bar as it finds where it is, then a grayed out bar as it verifies where it is, then it begins to play again. Just downloaded this weeks The Simpson's torrent along with this weeks Homeland torrent videos. Am certain it is not a de-fragmentation issue as I checked the level of fragmentation on the drive & it is not needing a run. Pretty sure the torrents themselves are good as many downloaded prior to myself & no complaints on the website.
