Cannot Transcode to AAC Audio in MP4 Files

As the title says, I have never been able to successfully transcode a file to have AAC audio in the output file on Mac OS X.

Every time I try I seem to get a different error, either messages to the effect of "unable to open encoder" or it will appear to work, but the resulting file will either refuse to open at all, or will have non-functional audio. This is irrespective on the ffmpeg strictness setting (which I have set to -2).

I used to be able to do this on older versions of VLC (e.g - v1.1.12) but the newer version seems to have corrupted my settings as well meaning I will have to delete every VLC file I can find and try going back to v1.1.12 again.

Since I pretty much exclusive do encoding into MP4 with AAC audio this is turning out to be quite a significant bug ;)

(I should note that when I say I've never been able to encode AAC successfully, this was referring to all versions of VLC v2.0.0 onwards, older versions worked fine).

Could you try with 2.2 nightlies with that stricness setting set to -2.

It seems to work correctly in the latest 2.2 nightly, has something been changed relating to this issue?

Yes, there are changes in avcodec module and transcode module 2.2 that most likely have effect in this. Closing this as fixed in 2.2 then.
