Significant amount of time is required for playing the first song in a m3u file
Description
When I click on a .m3u
file which only contains songs that are stored locally, VLC requires significant amount of time to start playing the first song.
I played a .m3u
file that lists 659 files and I had to wait more than 1 minute for VLC to start playing the first song in the playlist.
Expected behavior
VLC should be able to play the first song immediately, since getting the contents of a text file (i.e. a .m3u
file) is not an expensive operation in terms of computational power. Getting metadata of each single file is an operation that can be done asynchronously after the first item in the playlist has started being played.
Actual behavior
VLC requires significant amount of time to start playing the first song.
Steps to reproduce
- Play a
.m3u
file that only lists files that are stored locally. - Wait
