Video Playlist mode on Android TV cannot be disabled

Description

I'm running VLC on an Android TV, and playing MKV files that are held in folders on a DLNA media server. There's a setting in "Interface" called "Video playlist mode", which claims that it controls whether the app will play all videos, starting with the one I clicked on. However, no matter whether I check this box or not, it always plays all the videos. I would like to disable this behaviour but I can't.

Expected behavior

When I play one MKV file in a folder containing others as well, it should stop playback when it reaches the end.

Actual behavior

It continues to the next video.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a folder with multiple MKV files on a server
  2. Uncheck the "Video playlist mode" box in settings
  3. Play the first file in the list and observe behaviour when it reaches the end
