Make/update roadmap
I think everyone wanting to integrate dav1d would like to see a somewhat dependable roadmap.
Also we probably need to decide if we're going to do release candidates, how low we're going to support certain releases etc. And do we need to do things about AV1 1.1.0?
SIMD extensions support (see #207 (closed)) and platform/API support are also relevant.
Here I'm betting on Cunningham's Law to get this roadmap (maybe we could maintain it on the Wiki once there is consensus):
dav1d 0.1 (maintain 2 months after 0.2 release)
- Full C implementation
- AVX2 asm acceleration
dav1d 0.2 (maintain 2 months after 0.3 release)
- av1 1.1.0 compatible
- partial NEON and SSSE3 asm acceleration
dav1d 0.3 (maintain 2 months after 0.9 release)
- NEON and SSSE3 asm acceleration
- partial SSE3 and AVX-512 acceleration (depending on Zen2)
dav1d 0.9 (maintain 2 months after 1.0 release)
- Faster than libaom on all platforms
- All 1.0 performance features fully implemented
dav1d 1.0 (maintain 1 year)
- Same feature-set as 0.9
- As bug-free as possible
- Fully updated and complete documentation
Shoot :)
