Normal CPU usage

I've been trying Rist on Windows and I have a question. I've seen CPU usage hovering around 10-20% (I have a Ryzen 5 3600). I get these numbers using ristreceiver/ristsender as well as ffmpeg/ffplay. There's no difference between them. Is this level of CPU usage normal?

On a Windows 7 64bit with an old computer (i5-3330) the CPU usage is 25%.

With 10 ristreceiver processes I already reach 100% CPU usage (AMD Ryzen 5 3600)

What bitrates are you pushing?

The cpu usage is at the time when there is no data transfer yet (when data is not connected yet via udp). I thought it might be a problem specific to a version built with mingw but I just tried with the version from here https://code.videolan.org/rist/librist/-/jobs/1964248 and the problem still occurs.

I noticed that the autogenerated version in pipeline is also built with mingw. I just tried building with vs2022 and the CPU usage issue still occurs.

Can you try with master? we added a specific fix for windows. I are verifying your results on my machines as well and comparing with linux.

That's right. The latest master and 0.2.4 have no significantly different CPU footprint (older versions may have the same behavior. I was unable to build).

High CPU usage is before and during data traffic.

We have verified the high CPU usage in windows. It seems to be 10x the amount of CPU power we need under linux and mac. Looking into possible fixes.
