Version 2.1.0 64 bit option set to reset audio level at start not working

I just installed VLC video player version 2.1.0 64 bit and quickly noticed that the option to "always reset audio start level to:" under the simple audio settings menu does not work, it seems to be stuck on remember the audio volume. I have reset the cache and preferences with no luck. Thanks.
