VLC crashes opening wmv files

After updating to version 2.0.8, VLC started to crash when opening wmv files which were attachments from Windows Live Mail. I saved the files and tried to play them from there, but VLC crashed again. I tried opening VLC and playing the files from VLC, but it crashed again. I tried playing an attachment I know I had played in the previous version, but VLC crashed again. I tried reinstalling version 2.0.8 but this didn't stop the crashes. This did not happen with the previous version 2.0.7.

VLC will play audio mp3 files and video mkv files.
