Nightly Build ask for Downgrade as Latest Upgrade ...

For checking several bugs I found about a month ago I installed latest version from yesterday (2.2.0-git-20130720.1345 Wheatherwax) – but when first starting the program and also when manually checking for updates, there is "VLC 2.1.0 Twoflower" presented for download as latest upgrade ... but that would be a downgrade ... :/ ... why? what's wrong with version numbering and self identifying? When checking with version 2.0.6 there is 2.0.7 proposed as update ... shouldn't there be no upate proposition with the last nighly build? Or should not be given respect to "official updating" with nightly builds?
