Crash when fullscreen app takes over

Long and short: vlc 2.0.6 crashes instantly when QuakeLive firefox plugin is switched to Fullscreen and video is playing. If video is stopped beforehand and started after, no problem.

Unaffected when playing audio, If both audio and video are playing the video will tank and audio continue.

Before 2.0.6 the video would freeze at its last pre-fullscreen frame when going back out of game, but audio was unaffected, which was good enough while gaming and listening. Video would restart normally upon stop&start or next/prev track.

By freeze, i mean windows throws up the "vlc has stopped working check for a solution" window. Only data i have apart from the description is this:
