Is VLC using FFmpeg's or Libav's libraries?
And was this changed between v2.0.6 (which caused this bug) and v2.0.8?

I wanted to ask what you mean about your note regarding "that many RGB formats"?
FFV1 can do RGB, but its main use case is for handling lossless YUV.
