Selecting and opening a shared folder VIDEO_TS using Open Disc menu item fails

I'm on OS X 10.8.3, VLC 2.0.6.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Start VLC and use File-Open Disc menu item
  • Click 'Open VIDEO_TS folder', browse to valid VIDEO_TS folder located on Network (NAS Synology in my case) and click Open

Nothing happens after this: the main Open button in the lower right corner is still disabled (sometimes it gets enabled, but clicking on it just starts the built-in webcam (qtcapture).

There are no errors or messages in Errors and Warnings or Messages windows (verbosity set to 2) The same folder can be played successfully by dragging it to the playlist window or (this is strange) by using File-Open File menu item and point to a VIDEO_TS folder instead of a file. After this folder is copied to local disk Command-D starts to work again.

Here is the path to local folder (Commnad-D works) :

/Users/VK/Movies/Marcus Strickland Trio/VIDEO_TS

Here is the path to the same folder on NAS (Command-D fails):

/Volumes/Video/Music Video/Marcus Strickland Trio/VIDEO_TS
Server: afp://10.0.1.10/Video/Music Video/Marcus Strickland Trio/VIDEO_TS

This issue was initially reported here: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/7434 . I'm opening a new ticket as there is a new info on this bug.
