Appearance issues for main window controls on startup

Whenever I open VLC, it behaves as if it attempts to open some video file. I attached a screenshot so that you can see what I see when I open VLC. I tried removing VLC completely and reinstalling, however, it did not help. It is a minor bug, but I do not know what causes it, nor how to fix it.
