left-click to pause
When I search the Net for "vlc left click pause" I get about 40,000 hits all asking how they can use the left-click to pause the video.
And, the response to every single one of them is the same: "It is not possible".
Same consistent answer for nearly 7 years.. [Interestingly, I could not find any mention of it in the tracker here.]
Thing is, 'left-click/single-click to pause' (on the video pane) has become an industry standard --every other video player supports it.
And, I have read the reasons given: "This would break DVD and Matroska menu navigation that already uses the left click." http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=95169#p315367
I am not denying that there are/maybe people who do need the "DVD and Matroska menu navigation" functionality, but I seriously question their numbers when compared to all the rest of us that has never (or never will) encounter(ed) those. I also strongly object to VLC devs' decision to hold that infinitesimal minority's need over the overwhelmingly larger majority's.
I am not even asking you to ignore people who need "DVD and Matroska menu navigation".
Just give the rest us a checkbox in the Tools | Preferences | Interface tab that says something like "Left click on the video pane to play/pause".
That's all.
