M2TS + SRT Files: VLC Breaks

Situation: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit, VLC 2.0.5 Twoflower. Set as default player for M2TS files. When I double click on an M2TS file and a subtitle file SRT with the same name exists in the directory, VLC breaks. In full screen mode, it shows a black screen; the duration displays correctly on the right side of the progress bar for approximately 1 second, then displays --/--. If I rename the SRT file with a different name, the M2TS plays normally. I made a search in your bug database and found a 3 year old ticket (#3075 (closed)) reporting the same condition for M2T files. It seems that the problem has not been solved yet.
