Grey raster when opening file or dvd just after I upgraded to 2.0.1

I upgraded to 2.0.1 yesterday and cannot get my wmv files or dvd to display anything but a pattern of dark and light grey horizontal stripes. On one file the audio comes through though.

This is a Dell Latitude running XP. I have modified the Player output stream trying different things as suggested on the troubleshooting guide to no avail. This laptop has a Pentium 4, 1.80 Ghz / 1.18 Ghz with 768 MB of ram.

Is is possible to down grade to the version I had. It was probably a couple years old by operated just fine.
