Placeholder glyphs are displayed for certain characters in the subtitle even though the correct glyphs are in the font

VLC is unable to display certain characters from the subtitle file, even though the font in use contains the correct glyphs.

This happens with a multitude of fonts that contain the correct glyphs; I have tried using Arial Unicode MS, Code2000, and STKaiti typefaces.

Attached is a sample ssa subtitle file containing characters that could not be displayed, as well as a screenshot demonstrating the bug.

Below is a list of the characters that are rendered as the placeholder glyph: Line 1: "鎳" and "鈦" Line 2: "鐠" and "鋱" Line 3: "值" Line 4: "綁"

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
