progress bar flickering in VLC player 2.01

I'm running Windows XP SP2 and upgraded to VLC 2.01. In Full Screen Mode, the progress bar flickers so much that program does not respond to the mouse. It takes several attempts at clicking the stop, pause, or remove from full screen mode before the program finally responds. It was so bad, I had to uninstall 2.01 and reinstall 1.1.11. I was going to install it on my Win7 machine as well, but decided not to after seeing how bad the flickering was and how unresponsive the program was on my XP machine.
