With play and pause, the play doesn't continue anymore

With VLC 2.0.x, the Play and pause option doesn't work as it used to work in VLC 1.1.x. With VLC 1.1.x when the playlist item ended, user can click play button and VLC jumps to next item. With VLC 2.0.x that doesn't happen anymore. Pressing play just couts

main debug: control type=1
main debug: pausing at EOF (pause after each)
main debug: auto hiding mouse cursor

and nothing else happens

vlc 1.mpg 2.mpg --play-and-pause

Tested under Win32 with VLC 2.0.1
