2.0.1 update crash after download

Sequence of events:

Help->Check for updates...->Yes
Download proceeds; it reaches 100%.
VLC windows disappear.
Restart VLC media player. VLC media player reports that it had crashed.
Report bug; VLC media player responds that something in the FTP transfer went wrong.

I experienced this with VLC Media Player 2.0 on Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. Let me know if there is any debugging information I could easily provide.
