Disable Screensaver Preference Checkbox Has No Function When Unchecked
I'm using Windows Ultimate X64 with VLC 1.1.11. I have 6 GB of RAM, ATI HD 5770 with latest CCC and video drivers, etc., 3 monitors. I am using GPU acceleration, SPDIF audio output, and system codecs when available. Otherwise, mostly default settings except for "one instance," "always on top," "disable screensaver," and "fullscreen mode."
The issue can be recreated as follows:
*Open VLC
*Go to file menu, "Tools"
*Open alternate menu, "Preferences"
*Click radio button, "All"
*Select "Video" from the left panel.
*Under General video settings, deselect the checkbox for both "Disable screensaver"
*Close VLC Media Player
*Double-click on any media file to be played with VLC. (Right-click if VLC is not set as default player for the file type.)
And from here you can observe the bug. The screensaver is still disabled - no matter what. It will not run at all when media is playing nor when paused. I finally gave in and reset my preferences today, just to be sure that this wasn't a system-specific issue. It's not. It's happening on my brother's XP laptop and desktop and it's also happening on both my parents XP desktops.
I apologize if this ticket is redundant. I found ticket#426 (closed) regarding a similiar issue, but it's a six year old ticket and I really couldn't tell from the notes if that issue is the same as the one I have described above. It seems like that ticket is about the disable screensaver option NOT working, while mine is about the disable screensaver option not deactivating when unchecked.
Feel free to merge my ticket if I have mistakenly created a double - but please try to keep a copy of my notes because they are pretty straight forward and the outdated ticket is not as forthcoming - perhaps more general than my specific issue. Thank you.
