Audio delay
Hi there,
since some months ago, I have noticed that VLC introduces an audio delay. I've waited thinking that you were going to noticing quickly and correct it, but it seems anybody has.
To check properly this, I have deleted VLC's config, cache and local files of my user account. Checked it with VLC v1.1.11 on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 LTS 64bits (ppa) and Ubuntu Natty Narwhal 11.04 32bits. The audio delay introduced is about 300~400ms. All kind of video+audio sources are affected: .avi, .mkv, .mpeg, DVB. In both system, Totem reproduces the files and DVB correctly.
On an Ubuntu 10.04 system, you can easily reproduce the problem since Ubuntu packages VLC v1.0.6, where everything is OK, and VLC's ppa will install VLC v1.1.11, where the delay is introduced.
An easy workaround it is to use the sync tool but it is quite disturbing to do so for each file you reproduce.
