Playlist files not supported in mozilla plugin

When opening a web page with an embedded ASX file, the plugin shows "Waiting for video" instead of playing it. Copying the url, and opening it with vlc works perfectly.

I'm using Firefox 3.6.8 (From the Ubuntu Reps.) Vlc plugin: Version 1.0.6 Goldeneye (From the Ubuntu Reps.) on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04

If i open Firefox from terminal, the relevant messages are:
