No sound produced when playing Amiga mod files

The new VLC 1.1.0 plays Amiga mod files (time bar updates), but no sound is produced. Playing the same file in 1.0.5 results in sound.

I personally tested with a .it file, but this user indicated the issue with .mod and .xm files:

I tested this with MacOS X 10.6.3 and the release version of 1.1.0.
